‘The Road Ahead NI’ - We’re Officially Launched!

On Thursday 3rd July, we celebrated a huge milestone for our charity, The Road Ahead NI, with a beautiful launch event at the Canal Court Hotel, Newry

Founded by a group of incredible individuals who know first-hand the pain and trauma of road traffic collisions, The Road Ahead NI was created to ensure no one has to travel this journey alone.

Originally, The Road Ahead Support Group, a service provided by Road Safe NI, we’ve grown over the past five years, offering peer support, trauma counselling, wellbeing workshops, referral and signposting to community specialist support. Now, we’re proud to relaunch as 'The Road Ahead NI' and stand as an independent charity, supporting individuals and families across Northern Ireland.

Over 200 guests joined us for the launch, including bereaved families, survivors, emergency services, community partners, elected representatives and special guest, Minister for Infrastructure, Ms Liz Kimmins.

  • Uplifting music from the amazing The Uplifted Gospel Choir, Newry.

  • Moving speeches from guest speakers including Davy Jackson (Road Safe NI), Stevie Dickson (PSNI), Rosemary Rooney (Lead Trauma Counsellor), and Minister Liz Kimmins MLA.

  • Tricia O’Neill, our Charity Development Officer discussed the Charity’s growth, development and plans for the future.

We’re so grateful to everyone who came along to support us and to those who have been part of this journey so far. A special thank you to the Canal Court Hotel, Dara at DMC Events, The Uplifted Gospel Choir, Guest speakers, MC Mary Kate McKevitt, the Shelbourne Newry for our gorgeous cake and to our Committee for all their hard work in organising the event and putting on such a memorable launch.

As we look to the future, our mission remains clear: to provide compassionate, trauma-informed support, tailored to meet the needs of anyone affected by road traffic collisions.
