When a road crash happens, lives can change forever. At The Road Ahead NI, we support adults and children affected by road traffic collisions—whether through loss, injury, or trauma. Our work spans emotional support, education, remembrance, and advocacy. Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do.
WHAT CAN YOU DO?

When a road crash happens, lives can change forever. At The Road Ahead NI, we support adults and children affected by road traffic collisions—whether through loss, injury, or trauma. Our work spans emotional support, education, remembrance, and advocacy. Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do.
Volunteer Roles Include:
Admin Support – Helping with day-to-day administration and communication.
Fundraising – Organising or supporting events to raise vital funds for our work.
Educational Projects – Assisting in the creation of impactful road safety resources.
Facilitating Road Safety Talks & Workshops – Sharing life-saving messages with schools, community groups, and the public.
Networking – Building relationships with local groups, agencies, and supporters.
Events Support – Helping to organise or volunteer at awareness days and family events.
Peer Mentoring – Supporting others who have been affected by road crashes through shared experience.
Therapeutic Workshop Support – Assisting in the delivery and planning of creative and healing group sessions.
Training & Support
We provide full training and ongoing support for all volunteers. This includes:
Introduction to Trauma & Bereavement
Safeguarding Training
OCN Level 2 Mentoring
Workshop Facilitation Skills
Active Listening Training & Basic Counselling Skills
Regular One to One Supervision & Peer Supervision for all volunteers
